Techstination feature for Monday, May 13, 2019

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.     About one and a quarter million Americans are living with type 1 diabetes and technology is playing a big role in helping to ease that burden with wearable insulin injection and glucose monitoring systems and more.   Dr. Aaron Kowalski is the CEO of JDRF…formerly the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation…and he calls it an amazing revolution…

“What these technologies have done is allowed for computer software that resides in the insulin pump or in a cell phone…to take some of that burden of management so to speak…off the person…and put it into the hands of a computer.”

He adds.. more breakthroughs are on the horizon with the help of JDRF…including interoperability of the systems and encapsulated stem cell devices.
