Comcast brings new parental controls to Xfinity xFi routers

Techstination feature for Friday, August 23, 2019

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.       Just in time for the new school year…Comcast is adding some new parental controls for its Internet customers.    Parents with Xfinity XFi modems are able to set limits and pause connectivity for specific devices.   Comcast’s Charlie Douglas…

“ So I can say to my son, you get two hours of WiFi usage a day.  And when he hits that time limit, the WiFi will automatically pause his devices.  So I know that I don’t have to go and do something else, it’ll just happen automatically.   It’s just simple.”

There’s no extra cost and parents can set up specific times…bed time for instance…when the WiFi is paused…or weekends…when more time online is permitted.

You can find us at Techstination.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
