Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.     It will have some catching up to do with the likes of Tesla….but GM is going all in on electric vehicles at its Detroit Hamtramck plant…with the first all electric pick up trucks from the facility arriving at the end of next year.   GM’s Dan Flores says it is a three billion dollar investment in all…and..

“From a manpower standpoint…when the plant is fully operational, we anticipate it’s going to create about 22 hundred good paying, U.S. manufacturing jobs.”

The plant currently builds the Cadillac CT 6 and Chevy Impala….which are driving off into the sunset.   But on the horizon…besides the all electric pick up trucks.. the plant will also produce the GM Cruise Origin self driving taxi pod.
