Techstination feature for Wednesday, October 7, 2020

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.        The Canadian computing company Xanadu has launched the first photonic Quantum computing platform in the cloud.   Quantum computers utilize what are called qubits instead of bits to perform computations beyond what traditional computers are capable of.   And Xanadu has created an open source software library called PennyLane…to take advantage of that computing power.   Founder and CEO Christian Weedbrook..

“Kind of think of it as an app store, but you can download all these different types of apps.  Now it’s a very early part of the industry.  This is going to be transformative.  It’s going to affect finance, it’s going to affect pharma.  It’s going to affect all sorts of industries.”

And the photonic approach to quantum computing uses light based chips.   Stay tuned.  There’s more at www.xanadu.ai.
