Devices that let you distribute a high speed Internet connection to multiple computers around the house. You'll see a lot of these on the market in the months to come that will let you combine different kinds of networks... traditional Ethernet, home phoneline and wireless. One of the first on the market is from Panasonic...

Panasonic's assistant general manager of home networking Frank Lasorsa. The new Concourse Broadband Networking Gateway lets you plug in either a cable or DSL modem... and share the connection easily with your choice or wired or wireless connections. Panasonic sees the demand growing...

"Within the next couple of years it's predicted that there will be over 30 million households with more than one PC and about 25 million households will have broadband Internet access in their homes. And both of those trends would require them to think about home networking. Up until now, home networking has been kind of left to early adaptors and technology knowledgeable people."

Panasonic's aim is to make it easy enough for everyone. The Concourse Gateway... just out... sells for about three hundred dollars. An add on card that serves as a wireless base station will go for another two hundred dollars. Bootcamp, I'm Fred Fishkin, Bloomberg Radio.
