"I knew all along that I wanted to go to college and I wanted to play softball at the intercollegiate level. I thought if I was good enough, the recruiters would come knocking on my door. Well, nobody ever did."
But as a walk-on... she played four years of varsity softball for Bucknell. Still, the idea stayed with her... that there had to be a better way. So she and partner Nick Cohen launched CollegeRecruiting.com... .to help high school students and colleges find each other... .whether the student is an athlete or has other interests, such as theatre...
"The students can now be pro-active. They reach out to these schools and the schools have an insatiable appetite to find the best prospects. And what they do is they respond immediately. So a student can enter all their information in, run the college search and then send all the information out with the click of a mouse and then within a day or two they're already getting responses from interested schools... and a dialogue begins. And from that point forward it's between the student and the school."
Students pay 29 dollars a year for full access to the site. Time will tell just how well the concept works. Bootcamp, I'm Fred Fishkin, Bloomberg Radio.
