"It's just really a big product year and those are the best years to have because there's nothing more satisfying than seeing great products go to market and satisfy customers and get the recognition that you get from the industry of having successful products and that's what this next year is going to be all about."
Belluzzo takes over at a time when there's a lot of uncertainty however. Microsoft is still fighting battles with the Justice Department... .and PC sales are sagging. The company COO and President says the release of the new operating system could blow away some of the dark clouds... .
"The current slowdown is something that I don't think anyone in this industry could say we're happy about, but we believe it's short term. We will make the investments to bring excitement and innovation to the market so that consumers will want to buy more products."
There are some who have described Microsoft as going through a mid-life crisis of sorts... .Belluzzo says a crisis, no... .change... yes...
"We will go through change and we will go through transitions and we're going to face those changes and transitions with lots enthusiasm and energy and I'm excited about being a key part of that opportunity."
