Editing video on that home PC. I'm Fred Fishkin with Bloomberg Bootcamp. From Apple to Compaq to Dell... lots of new consumer PCs are being equipped for editing digital video. But what if you have a PC that's only a year or two old? Break out the camcorder and put on that director's hat... .Pinnacle Systems is making the technology available to everyday consumers. Senior Product Manager Mike Impietro... says Studio Online is designed to let you share those home videos... .over the Internet...

"Studio Online consists, as all of our products do, of software and a piece of hardware. In this case the hardware that we include is this big yellow cable that you see here. It plugs into the USB port that all modern PCs have and you connect your camcorder, any camcorder, it doesn't have to be a digital camcorder... you can connect it to the plugs here and it brings video right into the PC for you."

From there, the Pinnacle software makes editing easy...

"It does what is called scene detection. So it looks at the video and it can detect every time I've started and stopped the camera while I was shooting and it creates a new icon, or a new picture, for each one of those different shots on my tape. So that makes it very easy to look at what I've recorded, play it back on my PC, and choose the shots or the scenes I want to use to build my movie."

The price of the software and USB connection cable... .under seventy dollars. The price includes up to ten megabytes of Web space to store and share your videos. Bootcamp, I'm Fred Fishkin, Bloomberg Radio.
