Is the free PC dead and gone? Not if NadaPC can help it. I'm Fred Fishkin with Bloomberg Bootcamp. Jonathan Strum first made headlines when he started a venture that promised to give away iMac computers. He blames Apple for having to give up on that idea... ... but in the aftermath... .he created NadaPC... ..which is unleashing a host of free... or nearly free Internet appliances... ..to consumers who agree to three year Internet service commitments... ..

"One that we have is called the Surf Board. It's kind of a Web tablet if you will. It's about the size of a writing tablet. You can lay it on top of the coffee table. It looks good and it works great. It will connect you to the Internet, it has full multi-media functions, it has Java support and these are some of the things a lot of Internet appliances on the market today don't have."

The version that ships for free with the 21.95 Internet service needs to be plugged into a phone line. A wireless attachment should be available soon for an added charge. Also new... .a 27 inch HDTV...

"With built in integrated Web access. Which means you won't need a set top box. You're going to get the most phenomenal TV picture you've ever seen in high definition and you're also going to have remote control, easy to operate, one click access to the Web at the same time."

The price, says Strum... .199 dollars... plus the three year Internet service commitment. There are also plans to release a handheld PDA... called the PocketRocket. Bootcamp, I'm Fred Fishkin, Bloomberg Radio.
