A push for more automotive technicians by GM

Techstination feature for Friday, October 21, 2022

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.    The number of new electric vehicles coming to market means nearly 800 thousand new automotive technicians will be needed in the next three years  according to figures released by General Motors.    And the giant automaker has an inspiring recruiter in Field Service Engineer Brittany Grande…who decided to shift from a career in nursing and is now GM and ASE world class certified.   She says GM’s Automotive Service Education Program is a great place to get started…

“So at GM we understand that shop experience is just as critical as classroom training.  So while you’re getting the classroom education,  you’re also going to be paired with a GM dealership through a paid internship.”

As for Grande…she became GM’s first female field service engineer…specializing in Corevettes.
