NASA heads back to the moon

Techstination feature for Tuesday, November 22, 2022

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear. I’m Fred Fishkin. Back to the moon. As Artemis 1 continues its mission…orbiting the moon before returning home on December 11th…the team at NASA is knee deep learning all it can. Eventually the Artemis program will bring the first woman to the lunar surface. NASA Chief Scientist Kate Calvin tells us there are big differences between this and the Apollo missions… “One of the differences with Artemis is we’re using a combination of human and robotic missions to explore the moon and to do science there and better understand the formation of the earth moon system. And part of that is going to a different part of the moon. So we’re going to go to the south pole which has some permanently shadowed regions and we’re really interested in seeing what we can learn there.” While unmanned this time…the Orion capsule does have a manikin on board…by the way…nicknamed Commander Campos. You can find us at Techstination.com. I’m Fred Fishkin.
