Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.        The first wireless docking station for notebooks will arrive this year.  The ThinkBook Wireless Dock from Lenovo will allow you to simply place your laptop down and have it powered and connected.   The technology is the result of a partnership between Synaptics and Energysquare, where co-founder Daniel Lollo says..

“You can go up to two 4K monitor connections, you can be connected to your corporate network, you can be connected to your webcam, your keyboard, your mouse.  Everything, just by placing your laptop on the surface.”

The technology is being called Power by Contact and it allows 97 percent power transfer efficiency.  Energysquare is planning adapters that will allow a wide range of notebooks to use the technology as well.  Find more info at www.energysquare.co.
