USDA offers online Super Bowl food safety tips

Techstination feature for Tuesday, February 7, 2023

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.       Here come all of those Super Bowl parties….and the only bad feeling you should have in the pit of your stomach on the Monday after…is if your team fell short. Illnesses caused by food are a big concern at Super Bowl gatherings and the USDA is offering tips online to help prevent that.   Meredith Carothers, one of the USDA’s experts says leaving chicken wings or some other types of food out…before the game and then on into the game…can lead to trouble…

“Think of it as like a game clock.  So you have two hours on the clock, you have to make sure you are calling those time outs.  Either put out a smaller portion of foods, swap it out with another portion that is fresh and not going to be unsafe cause it’s been out for too long.”

Keep food hot if you can.   You can find more tips at www.fsis.usda.gov.
