Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear. I’m Fred Fishkin. So GM has announced that its Ultra Cruise hands free driving technology will be coming first to the 2024 Cadillac Celestiq…which will carry a three hundred thousand dollar price tag. Eventually…it will become available on other GM vehicles…in the way that Super Cruise has migrated. And the system will eventually be capable of hands free driving in 95 percent of situations according to GM. Assistant Chief Engineer Tony Kraatz..
“We’re going to increase the capability over time as we deploy. You plug in your route and Ultra Cruise will hands free navigate those roads, make the turns, get to your destination hands free, get on and off the highway.”
A driver monitoring system will be used to ensure the person behind the wheel…even if his or her hands aren’t on it…is paying attention.
