Ready to write that great novel you've had in your head? Get help and even publish on the Web. I'm Fred Fishkin with Bloomberg Bootcamp. It's a new venture from Time Warner Books. A Web site called iPublish. Editorial Director Claire Zion...

"iPublish.com has three channels and the most interesting on to us is iWrite. iWrite is a place that writers can go and make a direct submission to our editors for possible e-book publication and as possible print publication for national distribution. The way iWrite works is not like other e-book publishers that have been online so far. At iWrite there is no fee. It is not a vanity publisher at all. Rather, the ticket to submission is... when you want to make a submission, you have to first review the works of three other writers."

Submissions get rated by other writers online... .and editors review the most popular ones for possible publication. There's plenty of help... from suggested assignments to online writing courses... .

"We think we're going to be turning publishing on its head. In the past, print publishing has really worked... I mean what you do is you get ten people in a room in some skyscraper in New York and they call themselves an editorial board and they try to pretend that their guessing what America wants to read. But what they're really doing is making subjective decisions about what they read that week and foisting that on the American public in terms of what's being published."

That's what iPublish.com aims to turn around. If you'd rather read than write... visit a section called iRead. Bootcamp, I'm Fred Fishkin, Bloomberg Radio.
