Creating your own CDs... made simple. I'm Fred Fishkin with Bloomberg Bootcamp. They used to be expensive add-ons to personal computers. Now, CD re-writable or CD-RW drives are standard equipment on many machines. And blank discs are downright cheap. Napster or no Napster that means making a perfect copy of a music CD is easy. Just ask any high school or college student. And the piracy of software is on the rise too. At Roxio... an Adaptec spinoff which makes software called Easy CD Creator, CEO Chris Gorog... says the intent isn't to enable pirates...

"What we talk about is enabling the consumer to create, manage and move digital media. We help them get it onto the PC desktop, we help them create and organize and very importantly personalize and customize their own versions of that media. Whether they've created it themselves or they've downloaded it from the Internet and then help them get it off the hard drive onto an optical disc so they can use it in that massive installed base of CD players and DVD players."

The new version 5 of Easy CD Creator adds some new features... for those of us who still have analog music around the house...

"You can now actually take analog recordings, such as your old vinyl albums and your own cassettes and create pristine digital CDs out of those. "
