"Computing really now is about communications. Before it used to be about old Excel spreadsheets, but right now it's about staying in touch and being wireless and communicating. And you need to Yahoo! in a lot of different places whether it be reading the news in the bathroom or perhaps checking out recipes in the kitchen."
The vision is that you'll no longer tuck a newspaper under your arm when you head to the bathroom... you'll pick up a handheld computer connected to a wireless home network instead. Yahoo! is the third most popular destination on the Internet in the U.S.... .behind AOL's network and Microsoft. And globally...
"Yahoo! has in the high range of 69 million registered users. So we know that they are using Yahoo's products and services to really dig down deep and organize and get connected and stay on top of their information."
My guess is the home office, bedroom or family room are the preferred locations for logging on. Yahoo! is among the few profitable dot coms... but has been struggling through declines in advertising revenue. About the future...
"Most of the revenue is ad based... but we're exploring different avenues right now."
