"One hundred gigabytes. It sounds like a lot. But when you start working with home camcorder video or you start doing some saving of files from the Internet, it really isn't that much. Just remember, one hour of camcorder video when you want to make a graduation film ... it takes about 13 to 14 gigabytes per hour."
Richard Jorgensen of Maxtor... one of the many companies hurt by the PC sales slump. It is hoping that consumer interest in using PCs for digital music, digital photography and video will help to increase sales. The 100 gigabyte drives coming to market sell for under three hundred dollars. If you're like me, you'll find it's like your garage. No matter how big it is... you always manage to fill it up...
"What happens is storage doubles just basically every few years and a lot of people are using it for the various applications that are coming down. With high speed broadband, you can pull down a tremendous amount of information you might want to keep. Videos or other things. And the amount of space that people want is actually not stopping."
