Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.        Apple is bringing more capabilities to the Apple Watch series 9 and newer that can help keep you healthy.    New hypertension notifications…have arrived.   Rajiv Kumar, physician-researcher at Apple tells us…

“Hypertension is a state that results from chronic high blood pressure.  The Apple Watch has an optical heart sensor on the back crystal that faces towards the wrist and it shine a light through the skin and is able to assess the blood vessels with each heartbeat and look for changes that might be suggestive of hypertension and notify a user that they might have hypertension based on those characteristics.”

So important since hypertension very often goes undetected.   Keep in mind..this is not a direct blood pressure monitor..but an alert function.    More info?    Check out Apple.com/health.
