Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear. I’m Fred Fishkin. There’s plenty of doom and gloom out there when it comes to jobs…with concerns about AI. But a State of America’s Skilled Jobs Workforce report shows a lot of demand going unfilled for skilled workers. Jobs for the Future Associate Vice President Molly Blankenship is one of the report authors..
“What we saw, first of all, is that demand for the skilled trades in America is really high and will continue to be for the next ten years. We’ve got to fill 1.7 million jobs each year across the U.S. in skilled trades. That’s not just because of new jobs being added to the economy, that is part of it, but we’ve also got an aging workforce. So folks who are over 55 and nearing retirement.”
The report is one of the first projects from the Alliance for America’s Skilled Trades supported by Ford, Google, Microsoft, Waymo, Verizon and more.
