Interactive Sheet Music...On The Web

Techstination feature for Tuesday, December 25, 2001

Interactive sheet music on the Web. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. If you like to play music... .or like to sing along... .some new technology from Yamaha and sheet music publisher Hal Leonard is making the experience more interesting and fun. The joint venture's John Cerullo says it is called the V-Player....

"The V Player is a new technology. The technology was created by Yamaha in Japan to create an online, interactive music format using print, audio, MIDI and an animated musical instrument that plays along with music on the screen."

You can change instruments, play or sing along and print out from a library of sheet music on the site. The player itself is available for free from YamahaMusicSoft.com. You can buy songs to download for 3.95. Handy, if you're say a vocalist preparing for an audition... .

"And you need some pop songs right away. You can download these songs, you can practice them, and also record them and have somebody accompanying you, without actually having to bring an accompanist along with you."

Want to try? Be our guest... (sound) It could be a useful tool for students as well. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
