More digital storage in the palm of your hand. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. Those handheld digital players that can hold gigabytes of music... like Apple's iPod... may be growing in capacity. Toshiba is out with new drives... smaller than a credit card... that can store ten or even twenty gigabytes of digital data. VP Maciek Brzeski says for consumers... it will mean convenience...

"What they're going to be able to do is store all of their music, all of their data, all of their music, all of their pictures and carry them with them and basically be able to share them with friends when they're away from their computer."

Toshiba also has PC Card drives... up to five gigabytes... that can be used to expand the capacity for instance of some PocketPC PDAs. Compaq's iPaq and the new e200 from Casio have add-on sleeves. What could you use the drives for?

"Today there are products out there that allow you to capture TV, TV specials, and compress them down into a format that's viewable on your PocketPC. What the PC card version of this product will do, it will allow you to put that drive in your PocketPC and watch that movie while you're sitting on a plane with a set of headphones. All your data can be with you all the time just using a PocketPC. You won't need to carry a notebook with you any more."
