If you think your Palm or Pocket PC is handy now... wait until it can whisper in your ear. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. Instead of a personal digital assistant, what the folks at Accenture have been working on is technology they call a personal awareness assistant. A wearable computer that records sound, pictures and data... .and communicates with you through a tiny device you wear in your ear. Director of Research Anatole Gershman says... the idea is to give us humans a digital memory and recognition boost...

"For example, if I meet you for the first time and you say your name... that triggers the recording. Now next time I see you and I can't recall your name, I can say to my assistant which is sitting in my ear... say last Wednesday and noon... and it will play the short passages of people that I met last Wednesday at noon."

Accenture is working with prototypes now... that are admittedly a bit bulky for everyday use. But that will change. And... says Gershman...

"It could be also used to recall or access information that you need... be it at a business meeting or your personal life. Imagine that you have an assistant that whispers in your ear the information you need at that moment."

Also in the research labs... .an online medicine cabinet... and an online wardrobe...

"So when I buy a new jacket and put it in the wardrobe, the wardrobe tells me congratulations, nice jacket. Would you like to see what goes with it?
