"The purpose of iSync is to synchronize your digital life."
And what iSync will do is keep all of your appointments and contacts up to date on devices ranging from Palm PDAs to cell phones and even Apple's iPod digital music players. Jobs announced a new 20 gigabyte version of the iPod... the best looking MP3 player on the market... and then added...
"What if the iPod did work with PCs? Could it become a Trojan horse that steals inside fortress Windows and wins over die hard PC fans? In other words, could it show them how good it could really be? And we think yes. And so today we are introducing iPods for Windows."
The strategy goes hand in hand with the company's retail stores and advertising campaign aimed at luring Windows users to switch. When I asked Jobs if that strategy could strain his company's relationship with Microsoft, he replied...
"I think, what's a few points of market share among friends."
